EXCLUSIVE: Top comic Iliza Shlesinger has struck a deal to shoot her first one-hour comedy special for Prime Video.
Taping at the Eccles Theater in Salt Lake City on November 2nd, as part of her recently announced The Get Ready Tour, the special’s premiere date will be announced at a later date. As the voice of the Elder Millennial generation, Shlesinger uses it to bring back her familiar, physical, fast-paced style peppered with characters, animals and insights, from stripper heels to gorilla wives to a lesson for Gen Z.
The special comes on the heels of six for Netflix, the most recent being 2022’s Hot Forever. Shlesinger’s 2018 hour, Elder Millenial, served multiple purposes given its use as the subject of Iliza Shlesinger: Over & Over, her “fan-u-mentary” that provides fans with an inside look into what goes into making one of her specials.
One of today’s leading comics, Shlesinger created and starred in her own sketch series for Netflix, which premiered in 2020. She also wrote, exec produced and starred in the feature Good on Paper, which is now available for streaming on the platform. Other past screen credits for Shlesinger include Instant Family, Spenser Confidential, Pieces of a Woman, the limited-run talk show Truth & Iliza for Freeform, and Forever 31, the digital series she created and starred in for ABC Digital.
The only female and youngest comedian to hold the title of NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Shlesinger is a frequent guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. She’s the author of multiple books, including 2022’s All Things Aside: Absolutely Correct Opinions, and also hosts the podcast AIA: Ask Iliza Anything, where she offers up her unique perspective to listeners, answering their questions on virtually any topic.
