Camille Cottin appointed mistress of ceremonies of the 77th Cannes Film Festival

A French actress who handles humor and is known in Hollywood: Camille Cottin will officiate as mistress of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 77th Cannes Film Festival, from May 14 to 25, announced Thursday March 14 France Télévisions and Brut , who will broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies again this year.

The 45-year-old actress, who started in the comic register, with her character “Conasse” , and numerous appearances in comedies, has seen her career accelerate in recent years.

The Cannes Film Festival has chosen American Greta Gerwig, director of Barbie , one of last year’s biggest blockbusters, to chair the jury. The latter will elect the film which will succeed the 2023 Palme d’Or, Anatomy of a Fall , by Justine Triet.

Quebec director Xavier Dolan will chair the jury for the Un Certain Regard prize.

The selection for the 77th edition must be announced on April 11.

Among the most anticipated films, and which could be selected, a megaproject by Francis Ford Coppola with Adam Driver and Forest Whitaker, Megalopolis , the adaptation of Limonov , by Emmanuel Carrère, by the Russian Kirill Serebrennikov, or even a musical comedy by Jacques Audiard in the world of drug trafficking in Mexico. As well as the remake of the sulphurous Emmanuelle , signed Audrey Diwan.
